Recipe for a perfect sunny Saturday in Seattle

Recipe for a perfect sunny Saturday in Seattle (yes, Virginia, the sun does shine in Seattle) – first, a pastry stop at Bakery Nouveau in West Seattle – imagine a warm, twice baked almond croissant and a large, iced latte. The croissant is “soaked in simple syrup and filled with delicious almond cream... topped with sliced almonds and additional almond cream” – seriously decadent. Then, stop off at the beach in West Seattle and walk along the sand – make sure to collect tons of sea glass, oh, and check out the sweet Ferrari F430 just parked by the side of the road – make sure to take picture next to it so all the folks back home will think that you are hangin’ with Diddy down at South Beach.

After soaking up the sunshine, you’ve worked up a serious appetite, so it’s over to Spring Hill for brunch. Ahh, but what to choose – why not start with a pop-over smothered in sausage gravy, and then follow it with either chocolate prune brioche French toast with Earl Grey ice cream, or the quinoa waffle served with chicken nuggets, more sausage gravy, and of course, maple syrup. To quench your thirst have a “scratch” bloody mary (Stoli vodka, “booze rubs” chili lime, and pickled green beans), grapefruit cooler (grapefruit squeezed to order, lillet, sparkling wine, on the rocks), or a cucumber martini (gin, gin, & more gin, served with cucumber purée and a stalk of English cucumber.

Now that you are in a carb induced coma, and a little woozy from sun + booze, toddle home and then sweat it out with a session of hot yoga (108 degrees) at HauteYoga in Queen Anne – make sure to bring an extra towel as you will get so slippery with sweat there is a good chance you’ll rocket right off your mat. To finish, drink lots of water, take a cold shower, and fall into bed.

Serves 1-as many friends as you want to bring along
Calories: It’s summer, who’s counting
Cost: $3.85 (croissant)-$218,310 (MSRP) if you decide to spring for the Ferrari
